About Kirsten

Described as a "major vocal revelation" (Le Devoir), soprano Kirsten LeBlanc is quickly becoming known for her rich and powerful voice, as well as an engaging stage presence.

The 2022/2023 season saw her return to l’Opéra de Montréal as Ines in Verdi’s Il Trovatore, while she made her Toronto Operetta Theatre debut as Roselinde in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. Kirsten also worked with the teams of Opéra de Montréal’s productions of Golijov’s Ainadamar and Bilodeau’s La beauté du monde, covering roles in both premieres. 2023/2024 marked Kirsten’s first engagement at the Canadian Opera Company, covering Leonore in Beethoven’s Fidelio, as well as her return to Opéra de Montréal to cover the lead role of Queen Christina in the premiere of Bilodeau’s La reine-garçon, a role she will perform on the mainstage at the Canadian Opera Company in 2025. The 2024/2025 also includes her debut at Calgary Opera, where she will sing Lauretta in their production of Gianni Schicchi.

Other recent credits include Zweite Dame in Barrie Kosky’s Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream and La bergère and L’écureuil in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges at l’Université de Montréal, Nella in Gianni Schicchi with the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute and Hanna Glawari in Lehar’s The Merry Widow with McGill Savoy Society.​

A graduate of Opéra de Montréal's Atelier lyrique, Kirsten recently obtained her Doctorate in Performance at l’Université de Montréal, having already completed a Masters in Voice and Opera Performance from McGill University. She has been the recipient of both the Abbé Charles-Émile Gadbois and George-Cedric Ferguson scholarships and, in 2019, she was a finalist in the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio Competition.
